ABOUT THE AUTHOR

David Herbert Lawrence (1885-1930) was a versatile English writer, renowned for his contributions as a novelist, short story author, poet, and essayist. His modernist literary works delve into themes of modernity, societal disconnection, and industrialization, while celebrating human sexuality, vitality, and instinct. Several of his novels, such as "Sons and Lovers," "The Rainbow," "Women in Love," and "Lady Chatterley's Lover," faced censorship trials for their groundbreaking portrayals of sexuality and explicit language. Around 1912, Lawrence delved into writing his "mining plays," starting with "The Daughter-in-Law," which was penned in Nottingham dialect.
